Whether it’s a mojito, margarita or martini, many of us appreciate a cocktail at the end of a long week. Wynyard Park residents are no exception.
Be it with friends or date night with your partner, there are lots of places nearby - from cosy village pubs to a cosmopolitan high street.
Here's five of our favourites:
The Impeccable Pig, Sedgefield
A new venue that really has review sites buzzing with recommendations.
As well as an 18-seater private dining area upstairs, it has 10 stunning hotel rooms, unfussy bistro food and a selection of ales on tap.
“Take a seat at the bar, in a booth, or at one of our tables and make yourself right at home,” say its owners.
And while you’re relaxing in front of the open fire, why not pick out a cocktail to enjoy too?
Classics include an Espresso Martini, Bloody Mary, Negroni or a Taittinger Champagne Cocktail.
The Pickled Parson, Sedgefield
Make a night of it in nearby Sedgefield and head to this refurbished country pub with restaurant and rooms.
Formerly The Crosshill Hotel, ‘The Pickled Parson’ makes reference to the folklore tale of the local clergyman whom was said to have been preserved in salt after his passing by his wife so she could collect his yearly donations from the town’s people!
Drop by to sample its “beautifully mixed cocktails” and extensive selection of gins.
Canteen & Cocktails, Norton High Street
Norton High Street is very popular with Wynyard Park residents, as it’s just a short taxi journey away and packed with chic bars and restaurants.
If cocktails are the order of the day then Canteen & Cocktails is top of the list to try, with specialities including Passionfruit Collins, and Bourbon Badboy, and Kentucky Peach Smash.
12 Harland Place, Norton High Street
Make it another in Norton at its renowned 12 Harland Place, just a few short steps away and also boasting an extensive cocktail list – including those of the frozen variety!
Its Frose Frozen Cocktail, sounds a bit special - featuring rose wine, raspberry vodka, fresh lemon and sugar.
Look out on its social media pages for its Thursday night quiz night, which includes pizza.
Wallis & Co, Cocktails & Kitchen
Nestled in the heart of Navigation Point, Wallis & Co is one of over 20 pubs and restaurants on this vibrant strip overlooking the yachts and boats moored in Hartlepool Marina.
Recently extending its offering of its very popular restaurant by opening into the adjoining property, Wallis & Co's night time cocktail bar is a dark and intimate little place with a lot of character.
Serving an extensive selection of unusual cocktails try its English Garden, Whiskey and Fig Sour or Blackberry and Coconut Margarita, or try making your own at one of its cocktail masterclasses.
Thursday night is Ladies Night when it is two for one on selected cocktails, while there's always great live music on Sundays from 5pm onwards.
